中考英语对于most、the most 和 mostly 的考查只停留在比较粗浅的层面，掌握他们的基本词义和用法即可。但深入它们的用法，对英语的进一步学习只有好处。
我们使用 most 来表达数量和程度，可以作为限定词和名词用在一起，也可单独用作代词，也可以和形容词用在一起，或构成最高级。
most 和名词用在一起
意为“大多数”：
She goes shopping most Sundays.
Most young children are actie.
注意：
the most 不这样用：
In our school most students are Chinese.
而不说： … the most students…
如果我们说的是“泛指的、一般情况下的”，我们就用 most+名词；如果说的是一个具体范围的、特指的，具使用 most of the+名词：
试比较：
Most animals sleep in the night. 大多数动物在晚上睡觉。（泛指所有动物中的多数）
Most of the animals in the zoo are not happy. 动物园的大多数动物不开心。（特指动物园里的）
一般来说，正如上例，如果 most 遇到了冠词、指示代词、物主代词或者宾格代词，我们就需要 of：
Most of the fruit is ripe. 这里的大多数水果都成熟了。
不能说成：Most the fruit...
They hae cleaned most of their classrooms. 他们打扫了大多数教室。
注意：
如果没有冠词、指示代词等，我们就不用 of：
It is 7:30, most students haen't come yet.
而不说：Most of students...
在天气预报中，我们会把 most of 放在地理名词之前，表示“大部分地区”：
Most of south China will be rainy. 中国南方大部分地区将是阴雨天气。
Most 单独使用
如果对话双方都知道那个名词，就不需要说出，只用most，此时相当于一个代词：
A few children were late but most came on time. ( most children )
The most 作为 many、much 的最高级
I ha many books. You'e got more. She's got the most.
我有很多书。你的。她的最多。（省了books）
The most 作为多音节形容词的最高级符号
She danced (the) most beautifully. 她的舞跳得最优美。
It's the most interesting book I hae eer seen.这是我看过的最有趣的书。
The most 作为副词和动词用在一起
They all drank the wine, Jack drank the most.
他们都喝了酒，杰克喝得最多。
Mostly
用作副词，意为“主要地、大多、很大程度上”
I mostly want to know how you got the money. 我主要想知道你是怎么搞到这些钱的。
